The mission of the Constitution Foundation is to increase awareness and understanding of the Unite States Constitution in Florida’s school students, to recruit and train school leaders to make presentations in each school district and to provide at no cost to each student learning material along with a pocket Constitution.
Students will learn:
- How the Constitutional Convention of 1787 led to the establishment of a new form of government.
- How the Constitution provided a general framework for the government.
- The power to govern belongs to the people who have created the government to protect their rights and promote their welfare.
- How under our system of government citizens choose people for positions of authority.
September 17 is recognized in the United States as Constitution Day and Citizenship Day. The purpose of Constitution Day and Citizenship Day is to commemorate the creation and signing of the supreme law of the land and to honor and celebrate the privileges and responsibilities of US citizenship for both native-born and naturalized citizens.
The Constitution Foundation will take this opportunity to reach out to classrooms all over Florida to provide a “Support Our Constitution” presentation complete with hand-outs and a pocket Constitution. We will provide dedicated trained members of the community to reach as many schools as possible.
